Realizing there aren’t a lot of post because business majors don’t have time to submit posts.
Anonymous asked: I'm not even a Business major (or anything related, tbh) but I really enjoy this blog since I am interested in it and I also have friends studying business majors... so congratulations on your tumblr :'D (plus, Blue Jays! I may not be Canadian, but I'm a Torontonian at heart c: )
Haha thank you! so much :D The love is really appreciated <3

kill-the-snake asked: I'm interested in studying Economics, either at Western or Queen's, but I'm not really sure that it's what I want to go into. I know Queen's lets you register for first year while undeclared, but Western has a great-looking Economics, Politics, and Philosophy Honours Program. My one worry about taking Econ is the math. Ontario gap year kid here; I took Adv Functions and got a 97%, but I never took Calc because I thought I was going to end up in Humanities. Is it going to be that big of a deal?
Well having taken calc in high school helps but since you got a really solid mark in Adv. Functions you should really be alright by the material you’re given at lectures. I know for Western it isn’t that big of a deal, like they don’t require you to have taken calc in high school (actually don’t quote me in that I applied to universities about 4 years ago it may have changed). At Queen’s you can just submit a special request form once you’re in first year.(every university has those so even if Western did change their pre reqs, you should still be okay). So you really don’t have much to worry about. Although, some university programs require calc for you to apply (I know UofT did for me) but otherwise you should really be okay! Good Luck!

Anonymous asked: If I want to get a job at a top consulting firm, is it necessary that I go to a top tier school, or can I get the job based on my merit and experience?
The thing is, the top consulting firms a lot of the time have internal hiring. But that doesn’t mean they don’t hire other people. If you’ve got enough experience and the appropriate skill, it is possible to get a job at a top consulting firm. Just make sure it’s not one of those firms that exclusively hire from a specific school. Good Luck!
Anonymous asked: Hi Business Major Blue Jay, I'm already a few years into my Marketing degree and until now I still struggle with wanting to be a graphic designer v. being in business school. I go to a nice business school in Western Canada but I got in by the skin of my teeth (it wasn't even my first choice, I wanted to go into *gasp* Arts). I never wanted to go into business school but now I'm just rolling with it, I'm starting to enjoy it buy my heart's somewhere else. Any advice you can give me? p.s. BMBJ=<3
Wow anon are you me or? First of all, FUCK YEAH CANADIAN!
Your situation sounds a lot like mine. I got into university for marketing and realized even though I liked it, I didn’t love it. So what I did was, I went for a double major in Marketing and Writing (I know right? wtf).
The only advice I can give to you is that don’t do something you’ll later regret. If you wake up every morning hating your job, you won’t be happy no matter how much money you make. So all I can say is, do what you love. If you’re too scared to switch completely, just do a double major and spend an extra year. It’s better to at least give your passion a shot instead of chucking the idea because you were too scared. It’s ultimately your choice, but just think about it. An extra year in university might be worth it. Good Luck! BMBJ loves you too!

Anonymous asked: Hey guys, I'm in a bit of trouble finding a job. I'm not 'technically' a business major; I graduated as an Administration Professional (office assistant with some accounting training so I guess I kind of count). Is there any jobs you can recommend me? I'm kind of in deep crap right now.
Hey, I haven’t got any job recommendations but you should just try going to the career center of your college (they should be able to help you even though you’ve graduated). The job market isn’t so hot right now so it will be a tad difficult but you’ve gotta keep trying. Don’t be picky about the job you get. If you get a job that you think isn’t your level, take it anyway and work your way up. Any job is better than no job. Also, if you’re in a really bad situation, sometimes the government can help find jobs depending on where you live so you should look into that too. Good luck!

Anonymous asked: Can I still get a career business/accounting if I am not any of the business majors? I am already a senior majoring in international studies..I took a few accounting classes and liked it a lot. Would I have to go to grad school in order to do business or should I enroll myself in a Business certificate program?
Of course you can! You just need to know where to look. And it might beĀ a little harder for you to get certain types of jobs that require an actual commerce/business degree but you can definitely still have a career in the department. And once you get one job related to the field and gain some experience, it’ll be much easier. I would suggest some sort of a business certificate program at least, though, because that way the employers know that you’ve got sufficient knowledge of the trade. Good luck!
